Army Top Brass to be Downsized

British_Army_LogoUp to a third of the Army’s “Top Brass” are set to be axed in a wide sweeping review of the military branch. The recently appointed head of the Army General Sir Nicholas Carter has said that as part of the cuts to the size of the Army which will see the number of retained service personnel drop to 82,000 there will be a major restructuring at the top levels with several high ranking positions being axed.

Answering questions on this decision he responded by saying that this was necessary in order to streamline the force and cut through the bureaucracy that has traditionally blighted the Army. A smaller military force needs to be able to act faster and perform more fluidly and to achieve this the future Army will place more emphasis on junior ranks who are closer to the operational nature of the Army.
